2019 FDA Fellows Association Summer Seminar Series

Silver Spring, Maryland July 12, 2019

Augmented & Virtual Reality in Medicine

This was my first seminar talk (a step up from poster presentations) given live and in-person to the FDA Fellows Association. It was great practice, and even better, I had an audience of fellow fellows who were also just starting their research careers at the FDA, which made it a nice opportunity to see what everyone else across the Agency was working on.

I'm in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), one of the smaller centers compared to CDER and others, so there was a lot of interest in our work, especially since not many people knew the FDA had an Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories evaluating state-of-the-art devices like augmented and virtual reality, specifically for medical use cases.

My talk gave a general overview of my most recent research into color rendering in mixed reality scenes, and also highlighted the work my colleagues in our group were doing.
